Biography

Jason Merrill Benedict was born in 1977 in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.

He studied studio art and art history at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and La Universidad Complutenese de Madrid.

Jason worked in technical theatre building stages and scenery for some years, at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company and ACT Theatre among many other production companies, and as a freelancer for the IATSE labor union (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees).

He lived in Spain for many years as an active professional artist; and has exhibited around the United States and Europe, with several artworks having been acquired for private collections.

In 2006 he moved to Berlin, Germany where he now lives and works as an artist and organizer for a variety of exhibitions and art related events. In 2010 he completed a degree at the UdK (Universität der Künste Berlin) in curating.
